Anglican Cathedral Of St. John The Baptist

This cathedral, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and begun in 1847, is said to be one of the finest examples of gothic ecclesiastical architecture in North America. After the Great Fire of 1892, restoration took 13 years, and visitors can see the sculptured arches and carved furnishings.
Open year -round, June-Sept daily 10:30 am to 4:30 om, by appointement rest of the year.

This Roman Catholic Church was begun in 1841 and features Romanesque architecture with the floorplan in the shape of a Latin cross, and has twin spires 150 feet high, and 66 stained glass windows. A National Historic Site,.
Open year-round, visitors mon-Fri 8:30 am to 8 pm, Sat 8:30 am to 6 pm, Sun 8:30 am to noon. Free admission.



George St United Church

The oldest surviiving Methodist church in St John;s, built of Newfoundland stone an slate, quarried from the Southside Hills. Designated a heritage site in 2000.

Gower St United Church

This 105 year old Romanesque style church features a hammerbeam root, iron grillwork and 50 stained glass windows, and is the oldest Untied Church congregation in St John's. Open July 2 - Aug 31 2 pm to 5 pm.

Built in 1836, is one of the oldest wooden churches in St John's. It was first used by the military, and features the Hannoverian coat of arms for the troops stationed there until 1870. Allow 30 minutes.
Open from Jun 28 - Oct 31 Mon-Sat 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, by appointment rest of the year, Free admission.



St Andrew's Presbytrian Church
